“Artificial Intelligence for the European Union” (AI4EU) project starts today

European Leaders in Artificial Intelligence meet today to kick off the AI4EU project aimed to provide users with a collaborative platform to support research and innovation in Artificial Intelligence across sectors. 

Today, 10th January in Barcelona is taking place the presentation ceremony of the project to be attended by the Minister of Public Policy and Public Administration of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Jordi Puigneró; Lucilla Sioli, Director of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Industry of the General Directorate of CONNECT of the European Commission; Patrick Gatellier, coordinator of the AI4EU project, and the Rector of the UPC, Francesc Torres.

AI4EU joints the effort, expertise and technologies from 79 partners institutions of 29 European countries to build a sustainable Open AI on-demand platform embedded with the principles of human values and Ethics. Focus on the need to promote a human-AI in Europe, a critical mission of the consortium is to create an Ethical Observatory to guaranty the alignment of the development of the AI in Europe with the human values and, overall guaranty the sustainability of the platform. 

IIIA-CSIC is one of the leading European research organisations on AI being part of the AI4EU Consortium. IIIA-CSIC is a pioneer centre in the Artificial Intelligence Research in Spain, with an enormous contribution in the formation of AI researchers and, in creating novel Artificial Intelligence methods and algorithms in different fields, such as Healthcare, Robotics, Ethics Education and Smart cities.
